Rangers close in on ‘bumper’ Glen Kamara profit as Leeds United push to complete permanent transfer
Rangers are set to make a “bumper profit” on Glen Kamara after Leeds United closed in on a £5.5million move for him overnight, according to the Scottish Sun.
The paper reported on their website Tuesday morning (22 August) that the Whites had “stepped up their efforts in the last 24 hours” having chased him all summer, with manager Daniel Farke “desperate” to land the 27-year-old.
Coventry City and Middlesbrough, who have both also held talks, are both providing late competition on the deal but the Elland Road side are “frontrunners” and have moved to an “advanced” stage with their negotiations for Kamara.

After arriving from Dundee for just £50,000 in 2019 the Finnish international is set to hand Michael Beale a substantial cash boost before the close of the window.
Nine new signings have come in this summer, but exits have been substantial as well, with Alfredo Morelos, Antonio Colak, Ryan Kent, Filip Helander, Fashion Sakala, Scott Arfield and Malik Tillman all gone from last season’s squad.
In-demand
It is certainly a positive sign for Kamara that he has so many clubs chasing him, and if Leeds are that desperate to bring him in he should be in line for a lot more opportunities in the English Championship than he would be under Beale in the SPFL this season.
With numbers so thin at Elland Road he won’t be facing too much competition, at least for now, and will be easily the most senior central midfielder if he completes this move.
He has been bumped down the pecking order at Ibrox in the past year, having been a regular under Steven Gerrard and Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Nico Raskin is an almost-certain starter since his January arrival while Jose Cifuentes and Kieran Dowell’s summer signings have also crowded the group further, with John Lundstram and Ryan Jack also preferred by the manager.
With Steven Davis even potentially getting a new deal once he returns from his serious injury there looks to be very little space for Kamara, and both player and manager have publicly made clear in recent months that the time seems right for a parting of ways.
If Leeds land a badly-needed international midfielder, Kamara gets the opportunity to play regularly, and Rangers come away from the deal with a hefty mark-up on what they paid for him then everyone wins.
Beale may even have the chance to pick up a couple more late signings before the deadline if the move is completed imminently, to address the slight concerns that have emerged in the first few games.
In other Rangers news, Kamara doesn’t look like the only exit from Ibrox in the coming days after developments this week.
