Rangers transfer news as Ianis Hagi may have played last game after PSV exclusion
Rangers midfielder Ianis Hagi may have played his last game for the club after he was excluded from their Champions League play-off squad against PSV Eindhoven, according to The 4th Official.
Taking to their Twitter account (21 August), the trusted online outlet shared their reaction after Rangers submitted their squad list ahead of the first leg clash against the Dutch giants at Ibrox on Tuesday 22 August, with Hagi and Ridvan Yilmaz omitted.
Hagi was vocal in his desire for game time following a bit-part substitute role in the Gers’ win over Morton in the Viaplay Cup on Saturday 19 August, comments which may have not gone down well with Rangers boss Michael Beale, as stated by The 4th Official.
The online outlet believes that clubs will now know Rangers want rid of the Romanian midfielder and it remains to be seen whether potential suitors will now want to sign him for around £5m.
They tweeted: “With the exclusion of Ianis Hagi from the European squad, it seems we might have seen Hagi in a Rangers shirt for the last time.
“Obvious those comments in the presser didn’t go down well with Beale.
“Now it’s very likely he will be sold.
“The stupid thing in all this is all clubs will now know Rangers want rid of the player. In normal circumstances, £5m was more than a realistic price for him. Now? Who knows.
“This feels amateurish from Rangers.”
Development no surprise
Given the cut-throat nature of Rangers exits this summer, it is not a surprise to see how Beale feels about Hagi right now. The way Fashion Sakala was shown the door meant players like Hagi weren’t immune to similar decisions.
And his comments following the Morton victory on Saturday seemed to have been the final straw in his Ibrox future and Beale has now certainly made his feelings clear after this fresh development.

Rangers had been planning for several exits for a long while now and Hagi has now been given a pretty clear message as to where his future lies and what decision he needs to take now.
And that decision must be him taking another career route elsewhere because it is clear he doesn’t have a future in Glasgow. Hagi is a talented footballer and will need to spread his wings elsewhere to realise his undeniable potential.
For Rangers and Beale now, the focus has to be on defeating PSV across the upcoming two legs as if they aren’t successful you can guarantee the finger will be pointed at a decision that even pre-dated his choice of starting XI.
