Leon Balogun sends three-word message to ex-Rangers flop Aaron Ramsey

Rangers defender Leon Balogun has sent a three-word message to ex-Gers midfielder Aaron Ramsey after he scored for Cardiff against Leicester at the weekend.

Ramsey returned to his boyhood club this summer, just a year on from his Europa League final penalty miss with Rangers, and re-opened his account in South Wales with a stunning 25-yard strike into the top corner as he showed he certainly has still got it.

While his time at Rangers wasn’t a success by any measure, as his six-month loan from Juventus ended in disappointment, Ramsey built good relationships with his teammates, with Balogun congratulating him on Instagram.

Ramsey took to Instagram to proclaim: “Been waiting for that feeling. Gutted we couldn’t take our chances but a lot of positives to build on. Early days, big game for us to look forward to next week. Away fans different class again.”

Balogun replied to Ramsey’s post following the game, applauding his ex-teammates stunning strike by simply stating “What a goal” followed by three emojis suggesting the goal had taken his breath away.

Splitting opinions

Balogun and Ramsey are two players who, despite their friendship, are viewed in very different regard by the Rangers crowd at Ibrox.

Balogun returned to the club this summer on a free transfer after a spell with QPR, after an injury to Leon King meant Gers were in desperate need of reinforcements at the back, and opting to bring back a player who is much loved among Rangers fans.

For Ramsey, meanwhile, a return to Rangers was never on the cards after a poor loan spell, culminating ultimately in him missing the deciding penalty in the Europa League final v Frankfurt, leaving a sour taste in the mouths of fans who were already questioning his ability.

The Welshman is much loved at Arsenal and his new club Cardiff City, but spells at Juventus and Rangers are exceptions to that rule, although his obvious quality as a player has once again begun to shine in South Wales.

In other Rangers news, Rabbi Matondo has lauded an ‘outstanding’ player who left Rangers this summer.
