Rangers to sanction Robbie Fraser loan exit, Kelty Hearts manager in talks
Rangers are set to sanction the exit of young defender Robbie Fraser with Kelty Hearts interested in a season-long loan, according to the Daily Record.
According to the UK publication, in their live transfer blog (18 August, 11:38am), the Scottish League One outfit plan to hand the 20-year-old left-back first-team football and manager Michael Tidser has been in talks with Rangers regarding the move.
Fraser has never played for the Gers’ senior team but he has made the first team’s matchday squad on a number of occasions in the last few years without ever getting off the bench and also signed a contract extension in May.
Rangers want Fraser to go out and experience first-team football and Kelty Hearts are willing to hand him the opportunity.
Great deal for all parties
The 2023/24 season could be a very big one for Fraser.
The Glasgow-born left-back is itching to break into the senior side at Ibrox and there’s no doubt he should get a chance to show Michael Beale what he can do with this potential loan spell in Scottish League One.
Borna Barisic has failed to impress for years now and Ridvan Yilmaz has really struggled since his arrival at Ibrox last summer meaning Rangers will be open to potential youth options in the role and Fraser’s chance at Kelty Hearts is one he must grab with both hands.

Rangers have struggled to bring through young talent in recent years.
While the likes of Rory Wilson and Billy Gilmour have been snapped up by English Premier League clubs at a very young age in the recent past, there have been players like Nathan Patterson and Alex Lowry who’ve had more of a shot but not been relied upon.
The club must not continue that trend if they are to reach the heights of several other top academies in the UK and giving first-team opportunities to them points toward sustainable success in the future.
Fraser is certainly one of those youngsters capable of becoming a household name at Ibrox in the future so this loan deal is a great one for all parties involved.
In other Rangers news, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano shares that the Light Blues want to address a priority position in the transfer market over the next few days.
