Rangers transfer news as Glen Kamara will leave before Champions League

Glen Kamara “will not be around” for the Champions League should Rangers get past PSV, as he is well out of the picture at Ibrox, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper reported via its live blog on 16 August that, after making themselves £5million richer as they knocked Servette out of the Champions League qualifying rounds, Kamara will not play a part in their next European game against PSV.

The midfielder had been linked with a move to England, with Leeds United interested [Football Scotland, 14 August], while there were links earlier in the window with a move to Turkish side Fenerbahce and Danish side Copenhagen [Fanatik, 4 August].

Movement needs to happen soon

Kamara has been linked with a move away from Ibrox all summer, with Michael Beale looking to move the Finn out of the club after he fell out of the boss’ plans for his side.

Rangers have been busy with incoming players this summer, and are now focusing on trimming the squad of players that are surplus to requirements, with Kamara top of the list with plenty of interest in his services, although no official move has begun yet.

It seems strange that a deal hasn’t come around yet, with the number of clubs linked to Kamara including Leeds who are in desperate need of midfielders following their own exodus of players, with Tyler Adams now also being heavily linked with a move away from Elland Road.

Rangers

Kamara was previously a fan-favourite at Ibrox, having played a huge role in their 2021 title-winning campaign under Steven Gerrard, with his understated role in midfield crucial to the way that Rangers side played. Since Beale arrived, though, he has found himself on the fringes.
