James Graham, Mackenzie Strachan, Robbie Fraser and Josh McPake set for Rangers exits

Rangers are exploring exit options for four young players as the club continue to shape their squad for the season, report the Daily Record.

Writing on their live blog on their official website (16 August, 10:11), journalist Scott Burns reports that James Graham, Mackenzie Strachan and Robbie Fraser are all considering loan moves away from Ibrox with English clubs interested.

Josh McPake however could leave permanently as he is in the final year of his contract and has spent the last few seasons on loan elsewhere.

“Rangers are set to let a number of their youngsters go out on-loan. The Ibrox side are looking at loans for James Graham, Mackenzie Strachan and Robbie Fraser,” they wrote.

“The young striker, midfielder and defender are considering options for the trio. They have interest in them from the Championship, League One and Two.

“Rangers are prepared to let them go out now they no longer have Lowland League action for their B team. Attacker Josh McPake is another who could also exit. He has had a number of loans and is now in the final year of his Ibrox contract.”

Sensible

Michael Beale’s first-team squad at Rangers is going to be packed this season already with so many new arrivals and senior pros.

The chance of seeing youth prospects getting the call at any point seems slim, and it means that loan moves are the best option for anyone they have hopes for.

We’ve seen Alex Lowry head to Hearts already and while these four don’t have the potential he has, they can still have great careers elsewhere if they choose not to continue at Ibrox.

Getting them a good move will only help their development and improve our chances of getting some cash for them should they end up leaving, so this makes these moves even more sensible.

Fans won’t be unhappy about their exit as the first-team won’t suffer without them, and the players deserve to play regularly if they can, so this works out well for all parties involved.
