Kris Boyd wowed by Sam Lammers for Rangers v Livingston live on Sky Sports

Kris Boyd was left wowed live on Sky Sports on Saturday 12 August as Sam Lammers opened the scoring for Rangers against Livingston at Ibrox.

Lammers opened his Rangers league tally after just ten minutes of the game against Livi, and the striker is now off the mark in Glasgow, as fans will be hoping the floodgates will open.

The Dutchman has now taken steps towards putting early doubts to bed, with Boyd impressed by his “great” finish early on in the opening 45 minutes.

Speaking on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday [12 August, 15:11], Boyd said: “He does really well, Cantwell gets a shot off, it comes out to the edge of the six-yard box and he just fires across into the far side of the goal.

“It’s a great finish from him. There’s been a lot of criticism of this Rangers front three in terms of the last few games, but they’ve gelled together today.”

Brilliant.

Lammers has taken the first steps towards silencing the early doubters in Rangers’ season. The new signings have fallen under particular criticism with plenty of expectation placed upon them, and an early goal in their first league game at Ibrox will be huge.

Not just for silencing doubters, but the goal will be equally big for Lammers’ confidence, as the striker will now look to keep his form up in front of goal in what he will hope to be a big season for both himself and the club.

If Rangers are to challenge Old Firm rivals Celtic for the League title, they will need to score goals in abundance, most of which they will be looking to come from their new striker. The pressure of expectation may weigh heavy on his shoulders, but that weight will now have eased.

Putting Rangers 1-0 up after a dominant early display would also have been a relief for Michael Beale, who could not afford a repeat of the opening fixture as pressure already ramps up on his future and direction at Ibrox.

In other Rangers news, league Champions have made contact with the club over a wantaway player.
