Clock ticks on Rangers efforts to sell Glen Kamara for millions as he’s frozen out by Michael Beale

Despite clearly having no future with the club, an exit has not yet been finalised for Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara.

Supporters would be forgiven for forgetting about Kamara after he was frozen out of the squad by manager Michael Beale, although both men certainly will not have forgotten about the situation, which has not yet been resolved.

Both will likely be as equally frustrated as the other. Beale will simply want him off the wage bill so that he can switch his full attention toward the players that he plans to include this season.

Meanwhile, it is clear for Kamara that he has no future at the club and has subsequently not been included in either matchday squad so far this season, and the 27-year-old will just want an answer on where he is going to be playing his football next.

As previously reported by the Daily Record (30 July), Kamara was told by his boss to train alone until a new club was found for the Finnish midfielder and many fans will be left wondering if he is still running laps on his own.

He has been told he will not be a part of the first team and training in isolation is a clear suggestion that there is no chance for the player, who has two years left in his contract in Glasgow, to fight for his place in the team again.

The Yorkshire Evening Post reported earlier in the transfer window (21 July) that Leeds United were looking at the midfielder amid the belief that there was a £5million buyout clause in his contract. Although this has so far not come to fruition.

It is a great shame that things have ended this way for Kamara after a relatively successful stay at the club, during which he has made 150 appearances in the Scottish Premiership and was a part of Steven Gerrard’s invincible squad that lifted the title.

Nonetheless, that is the way football goes and sometimes players move on in difficult circumstances. The more pressing issue here for Kamara will be whether or not he is able to move on at all. If a deal can not be found soon then he might be forced to spend the season with the reserves, and the club will have a costly outcast on their hands.

Time is running out and some clarity on the situation needs to be provided sooner rather than later.
