Cyriel Dessers, John Lundstram and Kieran Dowell axed – Rangers predicted XI v Servette

Michael Beale could make three changes to his Rangers starting lineup for the Champions League qualifier first-leg against Servette tonight.

The Gers opened their SPFL campaign with a shock 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park, immediately giving themselves a mountain to climb in the title race.

But with a host of new faces in the squad Beale needs to find the right balance in his side, and could make changes for the big game at Ibrox as they look to take a cushion into the second leg next week.

Rangers

Jack Butland will continue in goal having been unable to do anything about the goal that went past him against Kilmarnock, with his place as the number one secure for now.

The defence is unlikely to see too many changes either with Ridvan Yilmaz out injured while Ben Davies wasn’t registered due to an injury.

That means James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, John Souttar and Borna Barisic are likely to make up the back four, with Leon Balogun, Leon King and Dujon Sterling not yet ready to step in for any of their counterparts.

In midfield Nicolas Raskin remains a sure-fire starter when fit in the deeper role, but he should have different partners in the middle for this game from the weekend.

Kieran Dowell and John Lundstram both struggled at the weekend and so Beale is likely to turn to Todd Cantwell and new signing Jose Cifuentes to add more energy and quality to the side in a must-win game.

Sam Lammers started just behind the strikers against Kilmarnock and struggled to find space to work, but he’s likely to get the nod once again in Europe with more experience and the home crowd behind him.

Abdallah Sima should keep his place on the left drifting in-field and using his pace to stretch the opposition, while Brazilian forward Danilo should get his first start as the out-and-out number nine ahead of Cyriel Dessers after his cameo against Kilmarnock.

In other Rangers news, the club are battling Celtic, Liverpool and Newcastle for this Scottish starlet.
