Rangers loan transfer mooted as Fashion Sakala closes in on Ibrox exit
Rangers could do with signing a new forward in a similar style to the outgoing Fashion Sakala before the transfer window closes, as their current frontline options are very similar, according to Stevie Clifford.
Sakala is set to depart Ibrox to join Saudi Pro League side Al-Fayah [Daily Record] after falling down the pecking order at Ibrox with Michael Beale completely revolutionising his front-line for the new season, with Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos also being released at the end of last season.
Scott Wright has also been rumoured to be leaving Glasgow despite talks between him and a club in Turkey breaking down and there are some concerns that the options now at Beale’s disposal for the new season all play in a very similar way.

Speaking on The Rangers Review Tuesday Briefing (8 August, 19:37) Clifford discussed whether a replacement is required for Sakala, saying: “If you take those three (Sakala, Wright and Rabbi Matondo) out, you’ve got Sima, Lammers, Dessers, Roofe, they’re quite similar so there could be an outlier there to go and get somebody towards the end of the window.
“Maybe a loan move somebody like that. I think who we bring in depends on who goes out in the next weeks and I still think that there’s business to be done there as well. I think a few going out might be some names as well.”
Tough signing to make
The issue of trying to sign a replacement for Sakala this summer will be finding someone willing to be down the pecking order and unlikely to play every week, but expected to perform at a more consistent standard than the Zambian forward.
Sakala will be remembered fondly, especially in the wake of the disappointing defeat to Kilmarnock for the season opener, however, the striker was by no means perfect with perhaps his most memorable moments being crucial misses in Old Firm matches.

Rangers’ frontline could do with an injection of pace especially if and when the above trio depart Ibrox, but when Beale has already signed nine players this transfer window it may end up being one or two signings too many.
This team is going to take time to gel together and at the moment neither the Light Blues nor Beale have the time to let the new signings settle in as results are required quickly. Adding yet another forward to the already packed frontline may make selling Sakala a waste of resources to end up in the same position.
