Patson Daka reacts to Fashion Sakala exit as Rangers transfer news emerges

Leicester City striker Patson Daka has reacted to the news of Fashion Sakala’s Rangers departure this summer, replying to the Ibrox forward’s statement on Instagram.

Sakala took to Instagram on Monday (7 August) to confirm that his time with Michael Beale’s side was coming to an end as he looks to set to confirm a move to the Saudi Pro League, and his international teammate and fellow forward Daka was one of the first to react.

Daka himself has been linked with a departure from his club this summer, with the striker likely to leave Leicester after their relegation to the Championship, with Alan Nixon reporting on Monday (7 August) that Everton hold an interest in the Foxes forward.

Sakala ended his Instagram post by saying: “I will always be a Ranger at heart, and I look forward to seeing the club conquer new heights in the future. It has been an honour to wear the famous blue jersey and represent this iconic club.”

His countrymen reacted quickly in the comments, saying: “Wishing you all the success this world can offer. God be with you always bro.”

Missed already

Although it feels as though it’s a case of this is the right time for all parties to move on, it also appears when looking at the comments in reply to Sakala’s Instagram post that fans, and players alike, are already beginning to miss him at Ibrox.

While Daka hasn’t played alongside the Rangers forward at Ibrox, he loves his national teammate very clearly, while Alex Lowry can also be seen sending his best wishes to his former teammate with a blue heart in reply.

Sakala may not have been the best player to ever don the famous shirt of the Light Blues, but he always gave his all whenever he stepped onto the Ibrox pitch, something the Gers seemed to lack in Saturday’s (5 August) 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock.

Rangers will be happy that they have been able to get the forward off of their books as it will likely allow them to complete further transfer business this summer, but they need to ensure they add the right pieces of quality to their side, rather than overstocking the areas in which they are already strong.

In other Ibrox news, James Bisgrove has claimed that the Gers team is ‘Champions League ready’
