Kenny Miller shares Rangers Champions League verdict after what happened v Kilmarnock

Kenny Miller is expecting a response from Rangers in their Champions League qualifier against Servette after their loss to Kilmarnock on Saturday (5 August).

Michael Beale’s outfit kicked off their new Scottish Premiership campaign with a 1-0 loss to Derek McInnes’s side at Rugby Park.

They now take on Switzerland outfit Servette in their Champions League third-round qualifier first-leg on Wednesday (9 August).

“When you have a poor result as an Old Firm footballer, you need to see a response,” Miller told Sky Sports, as quoted by the Daily Record.

“And I would expect to see one against Servette. Particularly in that attacking area, where they’ve put a lot of investment into the team and a lot of big players who cost big money.”

Rangers

Pressure already mounting

It really was the worst possible start to the new season from Rangers, who would have headed into the match at Rugby Park full of confidence.

After a disappointing campaign last time out, the Gers made huge steps forward in the summer transfer window, with Beale bringing nine players to Ibrox.

Moreover, plenty of them had hit the ground running as Rangers enjoyed some positive results in pre-season, admittedly along with some poor results.

But all the hard work behind the scenes did not result in success on Saturday, with the Ibrox club already falling behind fierce rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership as Brendan Rodgers made a positive return to the Bhoys with a 4-2 victory over Ross County at the weekend.

Beale will now be feeling the pressure in the dugout, with a loss against Servette certain to put his position in major doubt, even in these very early stages of the new season.

In other Rangers news, Champions League qualification is a must for the Gers as a 95% Old Firm statistic is revealed.
