Rangers battle with Celtic, Liverpool, Newcastle United and Brighton to sign Hamilton forward Ryan One

Rangers are battling with Celtic, Liverpool, Brighton and Newcastle to sign highly-rated Hamilton striker Ryan One according to TEAMtalk.

Writing on their official website (4 August), the news outlet report that several clubs in the Premier League are interested in the 17-year-old striker and that Rangers and Celtic are also looking at a potential move for him.

Brighton have already had bids rejected for him earlier this summer, and while Rangers are yet to make their interest formal with an offer they are keeping an eye on the situation.

“Ryan One is regarded as one of the top young prospects north of the border, with Premier League side Brighton already having a couple of bids rejected for the 17-year-old,” they wrote.

“In terms of other clubs showing an interest, it does not get any bigger than both Celtic and Rangers in Scotland. The Old Firm duo are both keeping across the young forward’s situation.

“We also understand that Liverpool and Newcastle and have made enquiries about One’s availability as the race hots up for his signature.”

Talent

One is a huge talent this side of the border and having lost players like Rory Wilson from the academy setup, Rangers will be keen to bolster the youth ranks with an eye on the future.

As a Scotland youth international who currently plays in the country, it’s possible that a move to the top team in the country is something that will appeal to him more than a move down to England.

Obviously the Premier League can offer far more financially, but if he isn’t going to play regularly once he gets there he may see his development stall and his progression stagnate.

With a father who has played football professionally, he will know how important regular game time and the right pathway is and that could help Rangers to land the signing ahead of the likes of Brighton, Liverpool and Newcastle.

We may have to act quickly though if bids are already being tabled, but this could be an exciting addition to the future of this great club.
