Glen Kamara told to quit Rangers as behind-the-scenes drama unfolds at Auchenhowie

Kenny Miller has urged Glen Kamara to quit Rangers after hearing that the midfielder has been told to train alone at Auchenhowie.

Kamara, 27, has been linked with a move away from Ibrox all summer with the Finland international failing to take part in pre-season matches before being left out of the squad that lost to Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership opener on Saturday (5 August).

While Michael Beale is adamant there’s no rift between him and Kamara [Daily Record], ex-Rangers striker Miller believes that the behind-the-scenes drama regarding the midfielder isn’t anything constructive.

“Glen Kamara has already been told to stay away and train on his own. That’s not a good vibe,” BBC Scotland pundit Miller wrote in the Daily Record’s print edition on Sunday (6 August, page 57).

“Especially when it’s a player who has done really well for the club.

“He has been a big player for Rangers since he joined from Dundee.

“So it’s not good news – I don’t like reading that sort of stuff.”

“For Glen’s career and for the club, he has to move on. Michael can’t have that hanging over him.

“And Kamara won’t be the only one in that situation.”

Get rid

Kamara’s position is understandable. However, he should at least be shown some kind of respect by Beale instead of being ostracised.

If the Gers had made their minds up a while back to get rid of the former Dundee and Arsenal midfielder, they would have surely had plans in place to sell him.

Instead, the Scottish Premiership season has started and Kamara remains a Rangers player.

Rangers

It’s no doubt hurting him to be training alone and not be playing any role in matches because clubs will know that if they sign him now, he’ll have a lot of catching up to do.

Rangers, therefore, shoot themselves in the foot because it makes Kamara harder to sell and makes it less likely they’ll get the money they want for him.

Beale has over-expanded his squad at Ibrox – a lot of players need to leave.

While we saw big-name stars exit at the start of the summer, none have really followed yet nine new first-team signings have been added to a squad that was already fairly bloated in certain areas.

Kamara is a victim of this and Rangers need to make more of an effort to sell the Finn.
