Fashion Sakala jets out of Glasgow amid Rangers transfer exit tribute

Fashion Sakala looks to have said goodbye to Rangers and jetted out of Scotland amid an expected transfer departure.

In a series of posts on his Instagram stories Sunday (6 August) the Zambian attacker appeared to show himself flying out of Glasgow along with a tribute to his time at the club.

Over photos of himself celebrating with teammates and fans last season the former KV Oostende man wrote the captions “we celebrated together” and “I’m sending my kisses to the blue family” before a clip filmed out of a plane window as he ascended captioned “Glasgow”.

Michael Beale confirmed ahead of the opening day defeat to Kilmarnock on Saturday that the 26-year-old wouldn’t be involved because “he’s away having talks” [Rangers Review, 4 August].

The Scottish Daily Mail reported on 4 August that Sakala is set to complete a £3million move to Al-Fayha in Saudi Arabia.

On his way

Sakala divided opinion in his two seasons at Rangers as he had a solid impact, particularly after Beale took over from Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

But despite contributing 24 goals and 15 assists in 91 total appearances there was always the feeling that with better consistency and finishing it could been so much more.

Danilo’s late arrival for up to £6m from Feyenoord [Sky Sports] looks to have pushed Sakala out of the squad, as Kemar Roofe looks set to be the only attacking holdover from last season.

Antonio Colak, Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos have all gone already, with Cyriel Dessers, Sam Lammers, Abdallah Sima and Danilo all brought in.

At his best Sakala’s directness and unpredictability made him the most difficult of the Rangers attacking threats for opponents to deal with.

And after the new-look front line drew a blank in defeat at Kilmarnock Beale may just be wondering if he has made the right decision not to have the Zambian around to bring off the bench.

But it looks like the decision is made and the 24-cap has already made his exit.

In other Rangers news, Michael Stewart has dismissed the Ibrox transfer business after what he saw this weekend.
