Rangers transfer news as Fashion Sakala finally in direct talks to quit Ibrox

Fashion Sakala is finally set to quit Ibrox having entered direct talks to end his time with Rangers in a move which will cost millions, according to the Scottish Daily Mail.

The Scottish newspaper reported in their print edition on Saturday 5 August (page 117) that the star who registered 16 goal contributions and impressed after Michael Beale’s appointment looks to have played his last game for the Gers having been a target for Al-Fayha.

As Rangers get their Scottish Premiership season up and running with a trip to Kilmarnock, the Zambian forward won’t feature as he closes in on completing a £3m switch to the Saudi Pro League.

Discussing the impending departure, Beale said: “Fashion won’t be involved. He’s away having discussions, he’s a boy and a player I have a fantastic relationship with. But sometimes in football, these things happen.

“An opportunity comes along and you discuss between yourself and the player and from there, something can happen. He’s away having talks but nothing is confirmed either way. He’s obviously talking to one of the Saudi clubs.”

Deal suits all parties

Sakala is not a part of Beale’s plans for this coming season as he instead refreshes his forward line ahead of the new campaign and securing £3m for a player that won’t otherwise play is an excellent piece of business.

While the 26-year-old impressed last season, especially after Beale arrived in Glasgow, that doesn’t automatically mean that he will provide the goals required for them to win the league. Possibly his most memorable moments in a Rangers shirt were crucial misses in Old Firm matches

There is still a feeling that more incoming business could be done at Ibrox before the window closes, with nine new faces already through the door Beale has suggested that more could be set to arrive should other players depart.

A big fee for Sakala’s services added to a potential fee received for both Glen Kamara and Scott Wright may allow Gers to add that extra bit of quality between now and the end of August to aid them in their chase to beat Celtic to the title.
