Chris Sutton shares instant reaction to Rangers defeat v Kilmarnock

Chris Sutton has shared his instant reaction to Rangers 1-0 defeat against Kilmarnock on the opening day of the Scottish Premiership at Rugby Park.

The Bears dropped to defeat and are already three points behind Celtic as the race for the title got off to the worst possible start for Michael Beale.

Sutton admitted it was not a great start for the Light Blues, although did suggest on Sky Sports that the pitch played a big part in the result in the end.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Sutton said: “Superb performance from Kilmarnock.

“Not a great start from Rangers.”

Not great.

For once, it is hard to disagree with Sutton here.

Beale will not be happy with his squad, but he will know that he will need to give them time to gel after making nine new additions already during this window.

Having said that, when pulling on that Rangers shirt, you simply have to win every single week without any excuse so this is disappointing to fall at the first hurdle.

Hopefully, it will act as a reality check to those coming in and those who were already here and waltzed around the pitch without a care in the world at Rugby Park.

It already a bigger challenge than it was before the season kicked off, and something special will be needed across the next couple of months to get back on top.

The Champions League is back with qualifiers this week, and every last player has to turn it up to get a positive result over in Switzerland, or it will be a disappointment again.
