Trabzonspor and Copenhagen make £2.7m offer for Rangers ace Glen Kamara, exit expected this month

Rangers have received £2.7m offers from Trapzonspor and Copenhagen for wantaway midfielder Glen Kamara, according to a report by Fanatik.

Writing on their official website (4 August), the Turkish news outlet report that the Superlig club have made an offer to sign the Finland international who is also wanted by several clubs across the continent.

Danish club Copenhagen are said to have matched the offer, although Rangers reportedly want double that to allow the 27-year-old to leave Ibrox.

“It has been claimed that Trabzonspor and Copenhagen are the most serious suitors for the 27-year-old Finnish midfielder, and that both clubs have sacrificed a transfer fee of 3.2 million Euros (£2.7m),” they wrote.

“Although it was written in the news in the Scottish press that Gladbach, Lyon, Reims and even Galatasaray were following the player, it turned out that these clubs did not take any serious initiative.”

Too low

Kamara’s time at the club is over, but that doesn’t mean that the board should be bullied into accepting a lesser offer for a player who is worth good money.

A full Finland international with title-winning and European football experience with two years remaining on his deal is worth far more than £2.7m and Rangers would be well within their rights to reject it immediately.

The report doesn’t state how the club have responded to the bids, but considering they have been quite open about their £5.5m demands it’s fair to assume that that’s exactly what they have done.

Kamara will know the price and it may drop as we edge towards the end of the window and he’s still here, but it won’t drop that low because we know what player we have on our hands.

If he doesn’t leave then he will surely be integrated back into the squad and compete with Nicolas Raskin, Jose Cifuentes, Ryan Jack and John Lundstram for minutes. For Rangers there is no rush to accept the first offer that comes in, and interested parties will have to do better than that.
