Rangers summer signing Sam Lammers full of confidence after wowing in pre-season

Rangers are in for an exciting season ahead, with manager Michael Beale doing his best to keep fans on their toes with nine new signings.

Among the new arrivals is striker Sam Lammers, who joined the Gers from Serie A club Atalanta on a four-year deal, as per the official Rangers website.

His signature was confirmed all the way back in mid-June, with Lammers representing summer signing number four, following the arrivals of Kieran Dowell, Dujon Sterling and Jack Butland.

Whether or not that shows that Beale wanted Lammers more than the likes of fellow forwards Cyriel Dessers, Danilo and Abdallah Sima is up for discussion. One certainty, however, is that Lammers has had more time to settle into life at Ibrox than his fellow forwards.

And he has definitely hit the ground running at his new club, with the Dutch attacker boasting impressive statistics from his four appearances in pre-season, as per The Rangers Journal.

The 26-year-old has found the back of the net twice in blue, with an expected goals (xG) figure of 0.82. He boasts a 58% dribble success and has made six progressive runs, with his defensive efforts also on show through 57% duels won, three interceptions and seven recoveries, five of which came in the opposition half.

Such figures will be welcome news to Beale, to Gers fans and even the player himself, whose confidence should now be sky-high going into the new season after he found the back of the net just twice in 34 matches in all competitions last time out.

In other Rangers news, a journalist has mooted a “leading role” for one Gers ace who has “endeared himself” to fans of the club.
