Fashion Sakala in ‘precarious’ position, Rangers exit looking likely amid Saudi interest
Fashion Sakala is in a “precarious” position as a Rangers exit looks on the cards for the forward, according to Dean Jones.
The Herald Scotland reported on 2 August that the Zambian international is set to leave the club after “falling down the pecking order”, with the Scottish Daily Mail (page 70, 2 August) reporting that Saudi Arabian side Al-Fayha are keen on him.
Speaking to GiveMeSport on 3 August about the 26-year-old’s potential Middle Eastern move, which will earn Rangers about £4million, former Eurosport journalist Jones said the ongoing speculation has put the forward in a “precarious” position at Ibrox.

“It is looking a bit precarious for Sakala at the moment, and I think it’s a bit of a shame because I feel there could still have been a role for him in this squad,” said Jones.
“We will have to see how this plays out in real life as a lot of the fuel to this rumour has been provided through social media, and that is not always a great place to get a true reading on a situation.
“But if Beale has decided this is the end of the road for him, which sounds the case, then I think it will be best they help him find a new club quickly and that everyone can move on from that stance.”
Necessary
It will be a bit of a shame for some fans to see Sakala moving on from Rangers after he has put in some really good performances and proved he can cut it at the level.
The forward had a decent record last season after scoring 12 goals and laying on eight assists in 41 appearances, with several of those outings coming off the bench.
But the Gers signed him from Belgian side KV Oostende on a free transfer in 2021, so receiving £4million for him marks good business by the club.

Michael Beale has brought a number of players in so far this summer and will be looking to do more business, making it necessary that he balances the books.
After signing other forward options, it has also probably left Sakala way down the pecking order, so moving him on as quickly as possible would probably be best for everyone in this situation.
In other Rangers news, one potential Gers transfer has collapsed after the clubs couldn’t agree on a fee.
