Scott Wright Rangers exit in ‘Major Doubt’ after player spotted in open training in last 24 hours

Scott Wright’s Rangers exit is in “major doubt” after he was spotted in open training on Tuesday (1 August), according to a report by the Daily Record.

Writing on their official website (2 August), the Scottish newspaper reports that there are “huge question marks” around the player’s future after a £500,000 bid from Turkish outfit Pendikspor was accepted.

Wright has flown out to Turkey twice to hold talks about a move, but his appearance in training suggests the move could be on the verge of collapse.

“Meanwhile, a huge question mark continues to hang over the future of Scott Wright,” they wrote.

“The out-of-favour winger is another player who has been told to find a new club this summer and a move to Turkey appeared to be in the pipeline after Wright flew out for talks last month.

“However, he was spotted back in training at Auchenhowie last week and also joined his teammates in Govan yesterday for the opening training session. That would suggest his £500,000 move to Pendikspor is in major doubt.”

Oh no

Well this is unexpected and a big problem for Rangers if Wright opts against a move away from Ibrox this summer.

Right now the 25-year-old is way down the pecking order under Michael Beale with all of Todd Cantwell, Kieran Dowell, Abdallah Sima, Cyriel Dessers, Sam Lammers, Tom Lawrence and Ianis Hagi ahead of him in the pecking order.

The club have spent well in the summer transfer window but now need to start shipping players out, with the likes of Glen Kamara and Rabbi Matondo expected to leave at some point this month.

But with a bid accepted for Wright Rangers have obviously been banking on his departure and if it is to fall through then it could cause them a problem if they can’t find another suitor for his wages and to offer them a fee.

He has no future at the club, but he can’t be forced to move on. So it seems like it’s decision time for everyone involved.
