Rangers transfer news as Jose Cifuentes announcement not expected today
Rangers are not expected to announce the signing of LAFC midfielder Jose Cifuentes on Wednesday 02 August, according to Andy Newport.
The Daily Record journalist shared via his personal Twitter account that although Cifuentes has arrived in Glasgow to finalise his move to Ibrox, no official confirmation is expected from Rangers imminently.
Cifuentes is set to arrive from the MLS side after Rangers negotiated a fee to bring him to Ibrox this summer, having previously agreed on a deal that would see him join upon the expiry of his LAFC contract in January.
Better late than never
Rangers’ deal to bring Cifuentes to Glasgow feels like it has dragged on for the entire transfer window, with different deals being negotiated during a long-winded back-and-forth between the two clubs and the player, but the deal will finally be completed this week.
Recent reports claimed Rangers staff are excited to finally get this move over the line, with just days to go until their Scottish Premiership season kicks off against Kilmarnock.
Cifuentes will arrive as the ninth summer signing at Ibrox, as Michael Beale has overseen a huge squad rebuild in his attempts to mould his squad to best suit his style, with the main aim to beat Celtic to the SPFL title this season after a poor challenge last time out.

The Ecuadorian midfielder won’t be expected to be in the lineup to face Kilmarnock, as the most to Glasgow will take some acclimatising and adapting as he gets to know his new surroundings and new teammates, and learns the role Beale wants him to play.
