Rangers look for new defender as Jonathan Panzo red tape emerges
Rangers are looking for a new defender after their pursuit of Nottingham Forest centre-back Jonathan Panzo came to an end, according to The 4th Official.
The news source shared via their Patreon that Rangers have ended their pursuit of Panzo amid interest from several other clubs, with the defender unsure about a move away from the City Ground this summer.
It was also reported that Rangers will now be looking to move for other options in the left-sided centre-back position after Panzo had been the main priority throughout the summer.

A real disappointment
Rangers had targeted a deal for Panzo as one of their priorities in this transfer window, with boss Michael Beale reportedly the driving force behind their interest as he is a big fan of the defender and was keen to work with him.
As a result, though, Rangers will need to explore different options, with all three of their main targets as reported by the Daily Record [7 July] Auston Trusty, Charlie Cresswell and Panzo all off the table after Trusty will move to Sheffield United, and Cresswell has signed a new contract at Leeds.
Rangers have made eight signings this summer, with a ninth expected soon in the form of LAFC midfielder Jose Cifuentes, and are still looking to bolster their squad as they enter the new SPFL season.

The club have set goals this season to qualify for the Champions League group stages via the knockout rounds and be competitive there while aiming to knock Celtic off their perch in the League after failing to mount a substantial challenge last season.
In other Rangers news, a journalist has shared whether Rangers are set to announce a new signing today.
