Visa development emerges in Rangers bid to sign Jose Cifuentes as timescale revealed

The move taking Jose Cifuentes to Rangers has moved a step forward as the midfielder is set to receive his Visa, according to Diblu TV reporter Andres Ponce.

The Ecuadorian journalist tweeted on 27 July that the 24-year-old will be issued his Visa today (28 July) and travel to Glasgow next week to complete his move to Ibrox.

The Ecuadorian international is expected to cost the Gers about £400k despite Los Angeles FC reportedly previously valuing him at £1.2million.

This is a significant update in the transfer situation taking Cifuentes to Rangers as the Visa is one of the last remaining hurdles to overcome.

Once he has been issued the document, he will be able to travel to Glasgow next week to complete the final stages of the move and become a Gers player.

Michael Beale will be delighted to sign him for the reported £400k fee as he looks to revamp his squad and strengthen his options in the middle of the park this summer.

Rangers

Since arriving at the LA club for a reported £2.3million fee in 2020, the Ecuadorian has really caught the eye in his 121 appearances, where he scored 15 goals and registered 20 assists, while also playing a major role in helping them lift the MLS title in 2022.

The deal taking him to Ibrox now looks very close to completion, meaning the box-to-box midfielder should be in place ahead of the start of the new season.

In other Rangers news, one club have been told they will “really miss” a player that is about to sign for the Gers.
