Feyenoord manager Arne Slot breaks silence as Danilo closes in on Rangers transfer

Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has broken his silence on Danilo’s impending move to Rangers and believes the Dutch giants have received a “good transfer fee” for him.

Speaking on Dutch outlet 1908.nl (28 July), Slot refused to confirm that Rangers will be Danilo’s next destination but admitted he was set to move on sooner rather than later.

Official Rangers commercial partner Four Lads Had a Dream reported on Friday afternoon (28 July) that Danilo had travelled into the Rangers training ground with his transfer to Ibrox now complete and an announcement due to be made.

And in response to several reports on Danilo’s move, Slot told 1908.nl: “I think we got a good transfer fee from him. It is a player who played less and less in the second half of the season and then it is always a consideration whether a player is willing to continue in that role for another six months or a year. can, or does he have difficulty with it?

“I cannot confirm whether it is that club. It is an interesting opportunity for him and we must therefore consider whether it is interesting for us.

“That is only interesting if we believe that there is a transfer fee that does justice to his qualities because his contribution to the championship last year was very big.”

Superb addition

While Danilo was always set to depart Feyenoord given his restricted opportunities during the latter stages of the previous campaign, Rangers must be given credit for pushing for this much-needed striker transfer.

With the Gers already bringing in Cyriel Dessers, Abdallah Sima and Sam Lammers to bolster their attacking weaponry, manager Michael Beale still needed another striker in, one who possessed more rounded and unique attacking qualities and Danilo at a fee of around £6m is indeed a great transfer fee for all parties involved.

The Brazilian needed a lease of life elsewhere and Rangers were desperate to give him that, hence the long protracted talks to seal his signature.

And Danilo could prove the defining ingredient in Beale’s team to ensure they fulfil those lofty ambitions of taking the Scottish Premiership trophy away from their Old Firm rivals.

A superb addition for Michael Beale and Rangers but more crucially, Slot certainly knows that the Brazilian is a mighty loss for his Feyenoord side.
