Pundit reacts as update emerges on Rangers target Danilo

Willem van Hanegem believes that losing Danilo to Rangers is “terrible” for Feyenoord due to his equation with Igor Paixao.

This comes after news emerged this week that Gers have had a £6million bid accepted for the 24-year-old Brazilian forward, who will earn up to £45,000 per week, according to the Daily Record.

Speaking to Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad on 26 July, former Feyenoord player and manager Van Hanegem, who’s also now a punditexpressed his frustrations.

Football Transfers translated his quotes as, “Personally, I would not have accepted Rangers’ offer for Danilo. Not because he is so great, but because of his bond with Paixao. If you see that video of him with that little guy, how they interact, that is very important.

“Danilo is not annoying and a good second striker”, Van Hanegem continues. “And how the two interact with each other is very important. You just saw that. They will really miss them at Feyenoord. He should have stayed with me.”

Rangers’ gain

By the looks of it, Rangers are signing an exceptional striker who will not only strengthen the playing eleven but make players around him better.

This could see someone like Cyriel Dessers benefit from him and rather than having one player who bags 20 plus in a season, Gers can have two who can score over 15.

Whether or not his signing makes Michael Beale rethink his system, remains to be seen because the club have paid really good money to sign new attackers.

Replacing Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos was never going to be easy so only time will tell whether or not this was a productive summer.

Beale can’t complain about not being backed in the window and now he’s got to get the players to perform and regain the title.

It’s going to be an interesting campaign ahead especially given Celtic changing managers and seeing their star player leaving.

In other Rangers news, the club are now battling an English side for the services of an Arsenal player set to leave this summer.
