Loan move for highly-rated Rangers ace Alex Lowry suits all parties as England interest emerges

Rangers manager Michael Beale has been one of the busiest bosses in football this summer, with the club making seven new signings.

That could turn into numbers eight and nine with the likely impending arrivals of Danilo and Jose Cifuentes.

And it is the expected signature of the latter that could have a direct impact on Gers youngster Alex Lowry, whose short-term future looks set to be away from Ibrox.

The 20-year-old midfielder may, however, already be heading for the exit door given just how many signings the club have made this summer, with first-team opportunities looking very unlikely for the academy graduate.

That is not to say that he doesn’t have a long-term future at Ibrox, with the best option for Lowry definitely involving a temporary exit for next season.

And that scenario looks likely, with the Daily Record reporting on Wednesday (26 July) that Northampton Town are among the clubs interested in signing the “highly-rated” playmaker on loan. The newspaper added that Gers boss Beale believes the young midfielder would benefit from such a spell.

Rangers

The newly-promoted League One club are clearly on the up after their promotion last season, and could certainly benefit from having a talented youngster like Lowry among their ranks.

The player himself meanwhile would be almost guaranteed regular minutes on the pitch, a scenario that would undoubtedly help him grow in every aspect.

Although many Rangers supporters would be sad to see him leave, it is definitely a better option than staying in Scotland, where he would perhaps be stuck in the club’s B team or at best limited to cup competitions due to the more senior figures in the first-team picture.

In other Rangers news, one journalist has predicted a “fantastic” returning player to have the same impact as Beale’s new signings.
