Chris Sutton reignites Rangers feud with Todd Cantwell with social media jibe

Chris Sutton has reignited his feud with Todd Cantwell after the attacker dived to win a penalty for Rangers in their friendly defeat to Olympiacos.

The duo have been having a war of words since Cantwell moved to Ibrox from Norwich in the January transfer window, with both players taking digs over social media.

Now Sutton has taken a fresh swipe at the 25-year-old after what he deemed to be a dive during the pre-season clash at Ibrox on Wednesday (26 July), and took to his personal Twitter account to fire thinly-veiled shots.

“Any pre-season contenders for the simulation game yet?” he wrote, accompanied by a GIF of someone diving into water.

Pathetic

It was a pretty silly thing from Cantwell to do, but had it been a serious game the VAR would have picked up on it and he would have been rightly punished for it.

For Sutton to go online and take digs at the player considering their history is just petty and pathetic, and he needs to grow up at this point.

What makes it even worse is that he didn’t name Cantwell, likely through fear of the reaction, and instead just decided to let the world of social media do its thing by putting 2 and 2 together.

Rangers

It’s a new season and realistically this should be left in the past, or at least not brought up in pre-season and left until the first Old Firm clash of the season.

Now Rangers fans are going to be riled up, Cantwell is likely to say something back and the fires will be stoked. All because of a pre-season game. We have far bigger things to worry about considering that performance.
