Willem van Hanegem believes Feyenoord will ‘really miss’ Danilo as Rangers transfer edges closer
Willem van Hanegem believes Feyenoord will “really miss” Danilo as the forward’s move to Rangers edges closer.
The Brazilian, who only signed for the Eredivisie side from rivals Ajax last summer, is set to cost around £6million as Michael Beale looks to strengthen his attacking options.
Speaking to Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad on 26 July, former Feyenoord player and manager Van Hanegem expressed his disappointment at the 24-year-old’s likely move to Ibrox.

“I didn’t think he was a bad player,” said Van Hanegem.
“They will really miss him at Feyenoord. He should have stayed for me.”
Big player
It sounds as though Danilo was highly thought of by everyone associated with Feyenoord after he helped them lift the league title in his only season at the club.
The 79-year-old Van Hanegem will have seen a lot of talented players come through the door at De Kuip and it seems like he puts the Brazilian up there in that bracket.
It does come as a bit of a surprise to see the Dutch side are so willing to let him leave after just one season, having scored 14 goals and laid on four assists during the campaign.

All the reports are now suggesting that it’s just a matter of time before the transfer is concluded, so Beale will be looking forward to getting him embedded with the rest of the squad as soon as possible.
The signing will provide a huge boost to his summer transfer plans, though, as he looks to build a side capable of challenging for the league title next season.
In other Rangers news, the club have secured a new signing for three times less than his current club value him.
