Rangers set to announce Jose Cifuentes transfer within hours, medical done

Rangers are set to announce the new signing of LAFC midfielder Jose Cifuentes within hours, according to Andres Ponce.

The Ecuadorian journalist with 110,000 followers on Twitter has shared that the medical was completed late on Tuesday 24 July ahead of the move.

It is reported that the visa process is the last obstacle although with agreements sorted, a move could be announced ahead of that anyway, it seems.

He wrote on his personal Twitter account: “Last night the medical check-up was carried out, now comes the visa process.

“Agreement between clubs. Within hours of announcing the arrival of Cifuentes at Rangers.”

Finally.

This has been one of those long-standing transfer sagas which appeared to be never-ending at Ibrox.

Michael Beale will be delighted to get a deal over the line for Cifuentes, who will slot straight into a new-look midfield which already has everybody talking alongside Nico Raskin and Todd Cantwell.

With talks progressing and a fee said to be agreed to Danilo at Feyenoord too, it looks as though the main transfer business at Ibrox will be done before the start of the season.

These are big signings, with Cifuentes starring at the World Cup for his country, and even being watched by some south of the border over the past year.

The visa process shouldn’t take too long to be ironed out, and with everything agreed upon, as well as the medical being done last night, this should be announced imminently.

We cannot wait for the new season already, it could be a summer that everyone looks at as a defining moment at Ibrox.
