Lewis Ferguson reacts to Rangers transfers as Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers sign
Summer signings Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers have been given the seal of approval by former Rangers academy wonder Lewis Ferguson, in an interview with Football Scotland.
The now Bologna midfielder, who joined the Serie A side last summer for a large transfer fee, faced Lammers when they played Sampdoria and although he never faced off with Dessers, believes he has what it takes to make a difference for the Gers this season.
Both forwards have been signed by Michael Beale as he attempts to evolve his front line, with Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos departing Ibrox and Feyenoord forward Danilo set to join Lammers and Dessers in the coming days.

Speaking to Football Scotland, Ferguson discussed both forwards’ potential impact: “I played against Lammers when he was with Sampdoria, and he is a really technical player. I watched the Newcastle game where he scored his first goal, and you could see how good he was.
“He picks up nice areas behind the striker and he is someone who will create chances. He is the type of player who will suit how Rangers want to play, especially when they are trying to break teams down.
“I didn’t come up against Dessers when we played Cremonese but he scored a good few goals in the league – if you are playing in Serie A and you score goals then you are a talented striker. He will bring something different to Rangers.”
An exciting prospect
It’s not often that a team can start the first game of a season, with a completely different frontline to that which finished the final game of the prior campaign, but that is very quickly becoming a possibility for Rangers.
Lammers’ signing has quite quickly become slightly overshadowed by both that of Dessers and Danilo, but for an opposing player to speak so highly of the technical quality that he possesses speaks volumes of his ability.

What has been quite so admirable about the Ibrox club’s business this summer has been the variety of different styles of players that they have recruited, with all three of their new forwards possessing incredibly different qualities.
What remains to be seen is whether they will provide enough of a goal threat for Rangers to catch Celtic in the Scottish Premiership this season, but the new attacking trio should be able to find the net more than Kent and Morelos’ combined 14 strikes.
Hopefully together they will be able to click and lead Beale’s title charge this season.
