Rangers transfer news as Danilo deal now on verge in triple domino effect

Rangers are now on the verge of completing the signing of long-time target Danilo from Feyenoord as the Dutch club are set to sign Calvin Stengs from OGC Nice, according to Voetbal International.

The Dutch website reported on 24 June that last season’s Eredivisie champions are set to beat Royal Antwerp to the forward and signature and are also looking at a deal to bring in Ayase Ueda from Cercle Brugge.

With these two potential additions, Feyenoord manager Arne Slot will have finally found the cover he has long been requesting throughout this transfer window, before allowing the Gers to complete the signing of the Brazilian forward.

Michael Beale’s side has been made to wait for the green light to complete the deal for a fee reportedly in the region of £5m with the triple domino effect coming into play.

Worth the wait

This transfer saga with Danilo has felt as though it will never end at times, such has been the will they let him leave, won’t they let him leave questioning of Feyenoord, but at last it seems to be nearing its conclusion.

There’s no doubt that the pair of forwards the Dutch side are set to bring in possess plenty of quality, with Ueda scoring an impressive 18 goals in the Jupiler Pro League last season, but that will be of little interest to Rangers fans.

Danilo brings them an attacking presence that alongside other new arrivals Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers should allow Beale’s side to begin to close the gap to Celtic and potentially overthrow the Scottish champions in the coming season.

All that remains now is for Feyenoord to complete their incoming business to allow Danilo’s arrival to be confirmed and have a portion of pre-season to get to grips with how the Rangers side play, a factor that’s importance can’t be understated, as Beale has used this opportunity to really shape this team into his own.

But until that deal is completed, there’ll be a few nerves around Ibrox as this entire transfer has been anything but straightforward so far.
