Rangers transfer news as Feyenoord finally find replacement to sell Danilo

Feyenoord have identified a forward to replace Rangers target Danilo to potentially allow him to make his move to Ibrox this summer, according to 1908.nl.

The Dutch news outlet reported on 22 July that the Eredivisie champions are eying a move for Bologna forward Sydney van Hooijdonk, who spent last season on loan at Heerenveen.

It said the Dutch striker has been given permission to leave the Serie A side and that will “accommodate a possible departure” of Danilo to Rangers.

Rangers

Positive

This is a positive step forward in Rangers’ long pursuit of Danilo as Feyenoord now appear to have their sights on who they want to replace the striker with this summer.

The report details that the Dutch club haven’t made an approach for Van Hooijdonk yet, but added that a potential transfer seems like a “matter of time” for the 23-year-old.

The Gers will be ready to pounce to push a deal over the line for the Brazilian as soon as they receive the green light from Feyenoord, with the Daily Record reporting on 20 July that their latest offer for the 24-year-old was about £5.2million plus add-ons.

Rangers

Michael Beale admitted in midweek that Danilo is a player he likes after he scored 14 goals and laid on four assists to help his side lift the league title last season.

The Rangers boss will be hoping to confirm the transfer as soon as possible as the opening day fixture against Kilmarnock is now less than two weeks away.

In other Rangers news, one player’s future at Ibrox is hanging in the balance after being dropped to the B team.
