Fourth Rangers bid disputed as £5.2m Danilo transfer talks now ‘close’ to agreement amid add-ons update

Rangers and Feyenoord are discussing details including add-ons for the transfer of Danilo, with the situation “expected to be resolved soon”, The 4th Official reports.

It was reported in the Netherlands earlier on Sunday [AD, 23 July] that it was a fourth Light Blues bid that had pushed the deal into “serious negotiations”, but online source T4O contends that it is the €6million [£5.2m] from last week that is currently in question, with talks having continued positively since.

The 24-year-old forward is keen on the move and Michael Beale is pushing to bring him to Ibrox, so now that negotiations have moved onto smaller details it appears an agreement is not far off.

Reporting via Twitter on Sunday evening T4O wrote: “I have been told by a couple of sources close to the deal that Rangers and Feyenoord are close to agreeing a deal for the forward Danilo.

“This is in furtherance of discussions based on the last offer of €6m. No new fourth bid though.

“One of the main discussions being held right now between Rangers and Feyenoord is on add-ons but it’s expected to be resolved soon. Given Danilo wants to join Rangers, that’s not expected to be a roadblock.”

Very positive

It certainly looks like this deal is on the brink of success, and if Rangers haven’t actually had to come back with a fourth bid to reach this stage it is even more encouraging.

The fee is significant money for the Gers either way, but if any top up to the number can be attached to achievements that would mean success at Ibrox then all the better.

It hasn’t been entirely plain sailing this summer for Beale as there are a handful of other deals that continue to drag on without resolution.

Rangers

But given how the summer overhaul was looking daunting as the previous campaign ended, with a major group of players set to leave for free and concerns over how far the transfer budget would stretch, the manager has to be feeling pretty satisfied with what he has managed to achieve so far.

Danilo isn’t a Rangers player yet, and there is always the late possibility that talks could collapse, but if he becomes the eighth signing of the window it has to be considered a solid haul already, with more possibly still to come.

Beale will then have to ensure the business translates onto the pitch, but if this one gets over the line hopes will be high for the start of the new campaign.

In other Rangers news, a warning has been sounded over a current Ibrox ace who could soon be set for an exit to a “top five league”.
