Rangers transfer update: ‘Half the job is done’ towards big-money Danilo signing with Feyenoord striker convinced
As far as Rangers are concerned “half the job is done” for signing Feyenoord forward Danilo this summer, according to Dean Jones.
The former Eurosport journalist believes that with the Brazilian convinced of making the move to Ibrox the prospects of success are significantly boosted.
The Gers have made multiple unsuccessful bids to the Eredivisie side so far, who are thought to want as much as £6.5million for the 24-year-old [Daily Record, 13 July], who has had his head turned by the prospect of being the main man at the club, with Michael Beale very keen to bring him to Glasgow.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT Jones said: “I believe Danilo is back in pre-season training now. But that deal is still progressing as far as Rangers are concerned. Their problem is that Feyenoord are holding things up at their end.
“I believe that half the job is done here, from a Rangers point of view, because the player is up for the move.
“They just now need to get to the next stage of that, where the selling club are open to this happening. So, they’ll keep plugging away at it.”
Push
If Danilo is convinced then it is just a matter of money now, and with Rangers selling players whose prospects at Ibrox have been reduced by the extensive incoming business the budget should be widening to help.
Antonio Colak has gone to Parma for £2.5m [Scottish Sun, 15 July] and Scott Wright has had a £500,000 fee agreed [Mail+, 20 July] to move to Pendikspor in Turkey, while Glen Kamara has been mooted as a £4m-plus target for Leeds United and Fashion Sakala has even been tipped for a similar sized move to Saudi Arabia, although it is unclear if both will go.
For the Gers it is clearly big money to spend on another striker when £8m has been spent on Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers combined [Mail+, 20 July], but all indications are that Beale believes it will be worth it.

Danilo’s scoring record is good enough for the Gers to have offered more money for him than anyone else so far this summer at £5m [Mail+, 20 July], and if he does arrive at Ibrox the departure of Colak, Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent won’t seem like too much of a concern.
The Light Blues may now be partly at the behest of Feyenoord’s ability to land their own targets this summer, with Arnie Slot unlikely to want his 10-goal league striker from last season to go without a replacement.
But the bids are creeping up, and while there is still work to be done spending money elsewhere on the likes of Jose Cifuentes and Jonathan Panzo this one, which appeared a long shot in the first instance, is looking more and more likely.
In other Rangers news, one of Beale’s first signings is already being mooted to leave for a “top five league”.
