Glen Kamara expected to leave Rangers as £5m release clause emerges, Leeds United want to sign him
Glen Kamara is expected to leave Rangers this season as a £5m release clause has emerged in his contract, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
Writing on their official website (21 July), the English news outlet note that the Finland international is seen as an “obtainable” target at Leeds United, with internal talks held about his potential move to Elland Road.
Kamara has yet to return to pre-season training but is expected back this week, although the manager has confirmed there have been enquiries for a transfer and he is likely to leave before the window closes next month.

“Rangers’ Glen Kamara has also been looked at and with a release clause believed to be in the region of £5m would be another obtainable midfield target,” he wrote.
“The Finnish international missed Rangers’ mid-week meeting with Newcastle United through illness and is expected to depart Ibrox this summer.”
Interesting
Many reports this summer have said that Rangers wanted between £4m and £5m to sell Kamara, but there hasn’t been any mention of it being a release clause.
If that is the case then it would be interesting that the club are willing to accept less, which would suggest Michael Beale is desperate to offload him.

There’s also the fact that the player is very willing to leave and has barely been in the plans in the first-team over the last 12 months, so any amount of cash is better than nothing.
The club are obviously trying to learn from their mistakes after losing Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent for nothing, and now know that getting some cash from his sale will boost their own kitty for the rest of the summer.
Leeds are clearly interested and a return to England is something he has spoken about before, although it remains to be seen if the Championship is as eye-catching as the Premier League.
