Danilo wants out of Feyenoord after Rangers table £5.2m-plus bid – Keith Jackson

Danilo has made clear that he wants to leave Feyenoord after Rangers tabled a bid worth at least £5.2million for him, according to Keith Jackson.

The Brazilian is highly rated by Michael Beale who is looking to top off extensive attacking transfer business that has already seen Sam Lammers, Abdallah Sima and Cyriel Dessers signed so far this summer.

Danilo, 24, was subject to an original opening offer at the end of June, at the point where it appeared that the deal for Nigerian international Dessers would not get over the line, but the money on the table has now surpassed that of the eventual £4.5m agreement as the manager looks to land both.

The opportunity and the contract on offer at Ibrox is apparently enough to have convinced Danilo, with Jackson reporting for the Daily Record (20 July) that after the latest of various bids was put forward the forward has expressed his wish to go.

The Eredivisie side have reportedly been holding out for £6m or more for the former Ajax and Twente man, but Jackson writes: “The Ibrox club believe this latest offer [may] tempt the Dutch into doing business for the Brazilian who has already informed boss Arne Slot that he sees his future in Glasgow.”

Matter of time?

Rangers are creeping up towards the asking price as it is, but if Danilo has made clear that he wants to go that could weaken Feyenoord’s resolve to hold out for maximum value.

It would appear that Slot will need to get a replacement lined up to let go of the man who scored 14 goals in all competitions last season.

If Beale and Danilo can get the move that they want out of this over the line then it will represent a hefty fee for a club who came into the window with doubts over their spending ability.

Incoming cash from the likes of Antonio Colak and Scott Wright, with more possibly following, should help the manager get some of his final deals done.

And Beale it appears has done an impressive job so far this summer of selling the Rangers project to prospective targets.

If the extensive business he has already secured, with potentially double figures in before the window shuts, matches the starts made by Nico Raskin and Todd Cantwell from January then it could be an exciting campaign to come.

In other Rangers news, some of the transfer business at Ibrox has been slammed in a scathing assessment from a BBC pundit.
