Rangers speaking to Danilo and other strikers, Beale confirms ‘Twist’ in Jose Cifuentes transfer

Rangers are speaking to several strikers about a transfer to Ibrox including Danilo, while Michael Beale has confirmed a move for Jose Cifuentes.

The manager was speaking at the post-game press conference following Allan McGregor’s testimonial against Newcastle United on Tuesday (18 July), where he confirmed the club’s transfer business wasn’t done yet.

But the boss admitted that all things are not quite as they seem as he confirmed interest in a striker and another midfielder before the season starts next month.

Rangers

“He’s a player we like. I think a lot of people like him. He’s not the only forward we’re talking to – that seems to be the one that’s been let out. It’s been more public, but there’s no news on it,” he said, as quoted by Daily Record.

“Cifuentes again, is a player that we like and we’re hoping that one can be moved on. I think we need to bring one more midfielder in.

“He’s powerful, he can work the corridor. He can play deeper or as an eight and make the box as well. But until he’s here, these ones can take a twist and a turn.”

Perfect

Beale has played this transfer window pretty perfectly at this point, and this is another example of that being the case.

The boss has brought in a host of new faces to strengthen the squad but also to replace players that have left, but he clearly feels as though we need more.

Rangers

Cifuentes and Danilo have been well documented as targets, but there has been little progress at this point and this is his and Rangers’ way of telling the other clubs that we won’t be held hostage in negotiations for players.

Rangers have other options and will move on to them if necessary, because at the end of the day the new season isn’t that far away and we must be in a position of strength when it starts.

Whether it’s Danilo, Cifuentes, both or neither that come to Rangers this summer Beale has done extremely well and the board have backed him, so he needs to ensure the results match up.

In other Rangers news, another defender is wanted at Ibrox despite the shock return of Leon Balogun.
