Rangers transfer news as Scott Wright gets Ibrox escape route this week
Rangers winger Scott Wright has been offered an “escape route” out of Ibrox this week by newly-promoted Turkish side Pendikspor, according to the Daily Mail [page 65].
Wright has been out of favour at Ibrox, especially since the influx of new signings this summer, and will fly to Istanbul this week to discuss a potential move, following a fee of £500,000 being agreed between the clubs, the Daily Mail shared on Tuesday [18 July].
The Rangers winger has also been linked with a move to Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia, but a move to Turkey now seems like his most likely destination.

Since joining Rangers in 2021, Wright made 84 appearances and scored eight goals, as well as starting in a Europa League final, despite struggling for minutes under all three of his managers during his time at the club.
Rangers needed to free space
Rangers’ business so far this transfer window, with the number of incoming players, meant they would have to start shedding some players from the squad as soon as possible. Letting Wright leave is a good start, as he was on the fringes of the squad regardless of the incoming players.
Having fallen far down the pecking order, it makes sense for all parties that this deal is completed as soon as possible so that both sides can move on from a somewhat successful but turbulent spell.

Wright will become the second Rangers player to move to Turkey this summer, following Ryan Kent’s arrival at Fenerbahce after his Gers contract expired.
For Rangers, bringing in £500,000 for a player they spent roughly £170,000 on just three years ago is a profit, and while not a particularly large one, will be an added bonus to the completion of this deal.
One player leaving may make space for further arrivals, with the Glasgow side still intending on being very active in the transfer market in the coming weeks.
In other Rangers news, the club want to get a new transfer done as soon as possible.
