Rangers deal to sign Jose Cifuentes all but done as Tuesday news emerges from Ecuador
Rangers are on the verge of signing Jose Cifuentes after agreeing a deal with Los Angeles FC to sign the midfielder, according to Andres Ponce.
The South American journalist, who works for Ecuadorian Diblu TV, tweeted on 18 July that an agreement has been reached between the two clubs for the 24-year-old and that a deal is “practically closed” to take him to Ibrox.
Ponce said the move will hand the Ecuadorian international his chance in European football at a “traditional club” and that it may be his “gateway to a stronger league”.

It looks as though a deal to bring in Cifuentes isn’t too far away from being completed, ensuring the Gers will have an exciting new midfielder before too long.
This has been a transfer that has been rumbling on for much of the transfer wind, as Michael Beale has been desperate to improve his squad to help forge a title challenge for next season.
The Ecuadorian, who has played 16 times for the national team, has been a key player for LA FC since arriving at the club for a reported £2.3million from Universidad Catolica in 2020.

The box-to-box midfielder played a crucial role in helping his side lift the MLS title in 2022 after scoring eight goals and laying on seven assists for his teammates in 40 appearances, proving he will be a quality addition at Ibrox.
Cifuentes has played 19 times for the LA outfit so far this season, so he will be fully fit and raring to go once the SPL season gets underway in a few weeks.
In other Rangers news, a Gers forward is on his way out of the club after failing to secure regular minutes.
