Rangers may finally get Jose Cifuentes deal done as LAFC boss offers squad update
Rangers may be able to make headway in their pursuit of Jose Cifuentes, with LAFC coach Steve Cherundolo saying they are trying to “improve our team” with the MLS season now on a break.
The Gers have been linked with a move for Cifuentes throughout the transfer window and the Daily Record reported on Sunday (16 July) that only the finer points of a deal worth a reported £1million need to be ironed out.
Cherundolo has hinted that work will be done on incomings and outgoings in the coming weeks, with LAFC not back in action until August 20.

Asked about players leaving during the break, Cherundolo said in quotes reported by the Daily Record: “The club is always working.
“We are always moving forward. We are going to try and improve our team. We are going to try and add some new players if we all come to the conclusion that those players will make us better, but not at all costs.”
Time to get it done
This deal has dragged on for quite some time now, and there has been a sense that perhaps LAFC have been keen to park negotiations during a busy period leading up to this break in the season.
Now that there is a little respite, you get the feeling that now is the time for Rangers to dot the Is and cross the Ts on a deal to sign the 24-year-old, a player who manager Michael Beale is clearly keen to bring to Ibrox.

Cifuentes is out of contract in December, so Rangers could actually wait and sign him on a free but Beale is obviously wanting his signings integrated as soon as possible as he looks to overhaul Celtic in the Scottish Premiership this season.
Jack Butland, Leon Balogun, Dujon Sterling, Kieran Dowell, Sam Lammers, Abdallah Sima, and Cyriel Dessers have already joined during a heavy recruitment drive and how it looks like Cifuentes will finally be the next one in the door.
