Antonio Colak meets new teammates ahead of Rangers exit, fan introduction already on the cards

Antonio Colak’s Rangers exit is all but done after the striker arrived in Italy on Thursday, according to TuttoMercatoWeb journalist Simone Lorini.

The Croatian is reportedly set to seal a switch from Ibrox to Italian side Parma Calcio 1913 who finished fourth in Serie B last season. Football Scotland has reported (14 July) that a deal could be completed for around £2million as well as some add-ons being included.

And as reported by Parma correspondent Lorini via Twitter (14 July), the forward has already arrived in the city of his new club and met his new teammates.

The tweet suggests that Colak could be unveiled to fans as early as Friday 15 July with a deal set to be completed imminently.

Short stay

After arriving in Glasgow just one year ago, the 29-year-old is already set to seal a move away. He started well but struggled after injury and was clearly never really Michael Beale’s ideal frontman.

However, the striker’s first and what now appears to be his only season in Scotland was by no means a disappointing one as he found the back of the net on 18 occasions in 39 appearances while also providing three assists.

For a reported fee of around £2million it would be difficult for the club to ignore such an offer as they look to raise funds in order to build a more balanced squad that can challenge next season.

Rangers

Plenty of attacking reinforcements have already been brought in this summer in the form of Sam Lammers, Cyriel Dessers and Abdallah Sima. Beale may therefore feel the money is of more use to him than Colak himself.

It is strange to see a player leave after just one season in which he provided a positive account of himself however that is the situation Rangers and Colak find themselves in. A good player, perhaps just not quite suited to Beale’s system.

In other Rangers news, letting another player go this summer could prove to be a mistake.
