Sam Lammers reveals what Michael Beale did to convince him on Rangers move

Sam Lammers said Michael Beale’s personal touch and the way he sold his vision about the direction of the club is what convinced him to join Rangers.

The Dutch forward penned a four-year deal for a reported £3million fee (Sky Sports) from Atalanta last month.

Lammers is part of a squad overhaul at Ibrox this window, with Jack Butland, Dujon Sterling, Leon Balogun, Kieran Dowell, Abdallah Sima and Cyriel Dessers have all signed on.

And 26-year-old Lammers described the role Beale played in his own decision.

“The human part played a big role. The fact that he goes over to new players to tell them the story and his vision for next season, is a really positive thing. I had a good feeling after this and I was excited to come over,” he said in quotes reported by Glasgow Live.

“He didn’t have to persuade me because the club speaks for itself and I was already interested otherwise I would not have talked to him, but this is the manager we work with this season so it was important for me to talk.

“If it had not been a positive talk then you have a different feeling but everything was like I expected so it was good.”

Beale’s personal touch pays dividends

Lammers is not the first summer signing to have spoken about the personal role Beale played in joining the club this window.

Butland also hailed Beale for going to see him and selling his vision for the club to him, and that keen interest is certainly playing dividends as the Rangers boss goes about reshaping his squad.

One thing that is important to stress for the upcoming campaign is the need for patience. There is no reason not to be excited if you are a Rangers fan, especially with the club on a heavy recruitment drive.

But signing so many players means there is sure to be a bedding in period, and it may take just a little bit of time for all the new bodies to click properly.

Beale, though, is doing his bit to try and make sure Rangers hit the ground running by making his signings feel wanted, and Lammers’ words are a testament to that.

If they can settle in quickly then Rangers could be in for a great campaign.

In other Rangers news, Antonio Colak has jetted out for a medical to complete his Ibrox exit.
