Rangers transfer news as £6.5m demand made for Danilo move at Ibrox

Feyenoord striker Danilo has his heart set on a move to Rangers this summer, with the Dutch giants demanding a fee of around £6.5m, according to the Daily Record.

An opening offer of £3.5million has been rejected by Feyenoord but the Dutch giants are now bracing themselves for a second bid to arrive from Govan.

Football Scotland reported on 11 June that Michael Beale is “seriously interested” in adding the former Ajax man to his ranks with Rangers readying a fresh bid, but the Dutch giants are looking for a fee almost double what the Gers offered previously, according to the Daily Record (13 July).

Dilemma

Rangers’ desire for the Brazilian this summer is certainly strong with Beale currently pushing to sign him, and what an addition he’d prove for the Gers, with his all-round game a great fit for Beale’s system at Ibrox.

However, the Gers certainly face a dilemma in the hunt to sign him.

Rangers

Scottish Sun reported on 9 July that Beale has to sell three big-name players this summer if he is to further fund his Ibrox revolution this summer, with chairman John Bennett clearly putting his foot down to ensure the Gers manage to balance the books financially.

£6.5m really is big money for the Gers and there is the temptation to put a bid in right now, but the club will have to sell players first which has proven a real struggle right now.

Danilo’s desire to move across to Scotland could hand Rangers the push they need to sign him and it could well lead to the Brazilian forward handing in a transfer request.

But, until that happens it’s up to Rangers to prove how much they want him. If the Gers are serious about making a splash at Celtic’s expense next season, then adding Danilo to their attacking ranks is a must.

Beale’s attacking weaponry is taking shape really nicely, with the signings of Abdallah Sima, Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers, but Danilo could yet prove the icing on the cake.

In other Rangers news, an “incredible professional” appears to be on the way out of the club, opening the door for this latest offer.
