Rangers transfer news as £500,000 exit on cards for Robby McCrorie

Rangers could accept an offer in the region of £500,000 to sell Robby McCrorie this summer, according to Chris Jack.

The Herald journalist shared the news after it was reported that the young goalkeeper is set to leave Ibrox after crunch talks with Michael Beale over his playing time.

It is said that the manager has reluctantly agreed that the stopper will be allowed to move on from the club, despite signing a new contract last season.

Jack Butland is set for the number one role after his free transfer from Crystal Palace, as he looks to kickstart his career once again at Auchenhowie.

The Englishman will start for the Bears in their first friendly against Hallescher FC on Friday 14 July, with pre-season really getting underway after that.

Shame.

It feels harsh on McCrorie after his performances at the end of last season, but this is just the brutal reality of football with the decision now made.

Beale wanted to keep hold of the player, but with the admission that he would be the number two, it seems as though he has higher ambitions.

McCrorie will have known as soon as Butland was signed that he would be the number one, and that likely made up his mind with weeks of talks following, it seems.

Experience is key, and the opportunity to sign Butland for no cost was simply too good to wave away for the club and Beale, who snapped him up instantly.

£500,000 isn’t the worst fee in the world, but any demands will likely start higher than that to see if they can get lucky with more windfall.

This is one to watch, it could move quickly now.
