Rangers pocket financial windfall amid £160m FIFA development – BBC Sport
Rangers were paid more than £318,000 by FIFA for the release of players for the 2022 World Cup, according to BBC Sport.
The publication noted that the Gers received the total from the governing body thanks to the presence of Croatia international Borna Barisic.
The left-back was the side’s only representative in Qatar, with FIFA paying out a total of $209m (£160.91m) to 440 clubs for the event.

“FIFA paid Scottish Premiership clubs a combined £1.66m for the release of players to the World Cup, with Celtic making the most with almost £511,000,” according to BBC Sport.
“Rangers made more than £318,000 with Hearts taking in more than £250,000.”

Funds aren’t exactly flowing in Scottish football compared to the likes of the English Premier League, so clubs like Rangers and Celtic will be overjoyed to receive such totals from the governing body.
The latter will, of course, hold the bragging rights over the former in this regard, having also come out on top in various areas on the pitch last season.
The rivalry will continue next season as the two Scottish giants look to go head to head for the major trophies available, with both clubs set to look very different when the first ball is kicked.
Celtic have had a change of manager, with Brendan Rodgers replacing Ange Postecoglou, who has made the move to North London to join Tottenham.
Rangers meanwhile are still under the watchful eye of Michael Beale, but the manager has already made seven signings in the summer transfer window as his new-look squad look to immediately hit the ground running.
In other Rangers news, a deal has been agreed in principle for one Gers-linked forward to move elsewhere for millions.
