We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Rangers...

Nottingham Forest defender Jonathan Panzo may fail his Rangers medical if there are degenerative changes found in his knee, claims Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert believes that it’s a tricky part of his body which is more susceptible to setbacks than anything else.

Before clubs announce players, they put them through medical check-ups and this issue and potentially be flagged by the physios.

The 22-year-old has missed several games in the past with a knee injury and in the 2022/23 campaign too he had another knee setback.

Discussing his situation exclusively with Ibrox News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said, “The level of cause for concern really depends on specifics. Are the knee injuries similar? How are they caused in terms of contact vs non-contact, the latter typically more concerning? How has he responded to them, etc?

If the doctors find something they’re not comfortable with during the medical something like degenerative changes in the knee, like Liverpool with Nabil Fekir, it certainly can be failed.

The Fourth Official revealed on 12 July that Gers wanted to wrap up a move for the 22-year-old Premier League defender soon.

However, a fee is still to be agreed between the two clubs and a move is still some way away from happening this summer.

Gers recently signed Leon Balogun and still want to bring in another defender, with Panzo capable of playing as a centre-back, left-back and in central midfield as well.

It remains to be seen if he does move to Ibrox by the end of August, but this is a pursuit that’s still ongoing.

In other Rangers news, the club have now received a breakthrough in their pursuit to complete another summer signing as a key target will not be signing an extension.
