Wilfried Ndidi to annoy Celtic fans as Parkhead-linked midfielder raves about Rangers transfer news

Celtic transfer target Wilfried Ndidi is likely to have annoyed the Parkhead club’s fans after sending a message to new Rangers signing Leon Balogun.

The Gers announced this afternoon (12 July) that the defender had returned to Ibrox on a one-year deal, with the 35-year-old expressing his delight in a post on Instagram.

Wilfried Ndidi, his international teammate with Nigeria, responded by saying “Good luck Young Balogun” despite the Daily Mail’s Simon Jones recently linking the Leicester City man to Rangers’ arch-rivals Celtic.

It seems like this was a huge lapse of judgement from Ndidi after he has been linked with a move to Celtic to join up again with his former Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers.

While he is clearly close with Balogun due to the pair playing together in the Nigerian national team for a number of years, it’s not a good look for someone who could be lining up against him in an Old Firm game in the near future to be wishing him luck.

The Foxes midfielder looks like he could be a decent signing for Celtic on paper if it were to happen, but there is no doubt that any fans of the Parkhead club that see that message will not be happy with him in the slightest.

While it may look like a minor issue, it’s just not what you do when there’s a chance you could be playing for one of the two Glasgow rivals.

It will be interesting to see if the pair are just as friendly to each other if they do meet in the SPL next season, but it’s likely any friendship will soon go out of the window once they step out onto the pitch and soak up the Ibrox atmosphere.
