Rangers transfer news as Jonathan Panzo move still wanted after Leon Balogun – Sky Sports

Rangers boss Michael Beale is still hopeful of making new additions to his first-team squad this summer as interest remains in Nottingham Forest defender Jonathan Panzo, according to Sky Sports.

Sky Sports have shared via their website that Beale will continue to look to improve his squad this summer, with six new players already arriving, Leon Balogun set to join the club, and interest remaining in both Panzo and LAFC midfielder Jose Cifuentes.

Panzo has been linked to Rangers throughout this window, with Beale reportedly a big fan of his. The deal could be helped along the line should Forest complete a new signing of their own as they target a player in Panzo’s position.

The report that interest in Panzo remains comes following news of another signing as Balogun looks set to re-join Rangers from QPR after leaving the club last summer.

You can never have too much depth

Following an injury to Rangers defender Leon King which will see the defender on the sidelines for a significant period of time, the need for defensive reinforcements has become even more necessary, with Balogun seemingly arriving as a direct replacement for King.

Panzo’s name is still being circulated as nothing has changed regarding the depth. With King’s injury, Rangers are still at least one defender lighter than Beale wants them to be heading into the new season.

Rangers

The Nottingham Forest defender spent last season on loan at Coventry where he played a key part in helping the club reach the Championship playoff final, making 31 appearances and impressing fans and neutrals alike, despite their eventual loss to Luton Town.

Beale was clearly one of those people impressed by the defender, as it was reported he is the one pushing for that move to happen as he is a big fan of Panzo, according to the Daily Mail [3 July].

In other Rangers news, English clubs are reportedly interested on bringing Rangers player in on loan.
