Rangers youth goalkeeper Jay Hogarth wanted by multiple English clubs

Rangers youth goalkeeper Jay Hogarth is wanted on loan by English clubs this season after impressing last time out, according to a report in the Scottish Sun.

The report states that Hogarth, who kept the most clean sheets in Scottish League One last season on loan with Alloa, is wanted by National League Hartlepool and Oldham, as Rangers are happy for him to leave on loan again for the coming season.

Rangers are keen for Hogarth to gain more first-team experience, with a move to England on the cards, and likely to be beneficial for the keeper to experience other leagues and situations.

Rangers

Hogarth is a Scotland Under-21 international at 19 years old, having made his international debut in June against Norway’s U21 side.

Getting the academy players good experience will serve Rangers well

Hogarth is highly regarded at academy level and has 42 senior appearances to his name aged just 19, all of which came with Alloa where he was the first-choice goalkeeper as his side narrowly missed out on promotion through the playoffs.

The experience of pushing for promotion, albeit at a lower level, will have been a positive developmental position for Hogarth, who is now set to be offered an opportunity to play in the English league pyramid, with a National League move very much on the card.

Rangers

This will once again be a valuable experience for the young goalkeeper, as moving and living in another country can be developmental for him as a person, while playing in such a competitive league as the National League will bring challenges in itself.

He will always have one eye on playing for Rangers and Scotland having represented both at youth level, as he looks to emulate the success of goalkeepers like Alan McGregor, and these loan experiences will be vital in achieving that goal.

In other Rangers news, the club have made yet another bid for key transfer target.
